SCAF A PROJECT FOR EUROPEAN COMBAT AVIATION?

The SCAF stands for the "air combat system of the future", an ambitious project launched in July 2017 by President Macron and Chancellor Merkel. A project that aims to replace the Rafale aircraft of the French Air Force and the Luftwaffe's Eurofighter by 2040. Spain has joined the project as a partner, and Belgium as an observer.


In reality, it's not a question of replacing one combat aircraft with another. It's a question of replacing it with a "combat system" comprising a new piloted aircraft called an "NGF" (New Generation Fighter), which will operate accompanied by drones (RC for Remote Carrier) in cooperation in a secure Combat Cloud (drone piloting, sensor management, etc.), thus creating a "combat bubble". The SCAF is the gateway to "collaborative combat", thanks to connectivity and Artificial Intelligence (AI)....
