WiFi : Where are we ?

Organised by "Networks & Services"

New standards, new architectures, new applications

Over the past few years, we've seen remarkable developments in WiFi networks.
The use of this technology has become widespread, in public, urban, professional and residential networks alike.

Where do we stand?

  • What are the latest developments in standards (WiFi6, mesh, etc.)?
  • What are the players doing (operators, industrial suppliers, etc....)?
  • What about security risks on WiFi networks?
  • How are architectures evolving (management of equipment in the Cloud, etc.)?
  • What about complementarity/substitution between LAN and WLAN?

These are just some of the key questions to be answered and clarified.

To this end, the Réseaux & Services group of Télécom Paris alumni is organizing a webinar on the subject: four short presentations followed by a round table/online question-and-answer session.

Speakers from a variety of backgrounds are invited to speak on a variety of topics:

  • New WiFi standards with Hélène Rallé (ORANGE Labs)
  • The point of view of a specialized operator: Marc Taieb (1997) (WiFirst)

  • The performance and capabilities of today's WiFi networks with 2 leading manufacturers:
    • Insight and Cloud Architecture: Christophe Perrin (CISCO Enterprise Networking)
    • Extra sensorial wireless network: GrégoryGatineau (HPE ARUBA networking)

  • An example of an innovative application: geolocation inside buildings : Christian Carle (Pole Star)

Henri Tallon (HubOne)
will join previous participants for the round table discussion.

Moderators: Michel Levy (1975), Jacques Heitzmann (1981)
