[Télécom ParisTalks] Data in the Healthcare System

12th conference in the Télécom ParisTalks co-organized by
Télécom ParisTech alumni and Télécom Evolution

Whether for the prevention of health accidents, insurance coverage of these risks, or medical research, health data is torn between a number of sometimes conflicting imperatives: accessing this data, but also protecting its content -or identities-, providing confidentiality while facilitating verification of its proper use in real time by stakeholders, or moving towards data portability, etc.

The reasoning is both at the level of the individual in relation to his or her doctor, insurer or employer, but also at the level of the community, which needs to have access to massive data for research, particularly on the learning of Artificial Intelligence algorithms. The debate will provide an opportunity to compare situations in France and abroad.

These ambitions do, however, raise the question of the real value of this data: does it have the quality and reliability vaunted, if not hoped for? Does their actual usability live up to the promises made?
