[Télécom ParisTalks] The autopsy of Digital's contribution to the Pandemic

Organised by "Health"

22nd conference in the Télécom ParisTalks cycle co-organized by
Télécom Paris alumni andTélécom Evolution

The current health crisis is exceptional, but not unprecedented. The 20th century saw 3 major health crises: the Spanish flu in 1918 (between 50 and 100 million deaths), the Asian flu in 1957 (2 million deaths) and the Hong Kong flu in 1968 (4 million deaths). In 2020, Digital was a partner in the fight against the covid-19 pandemic. It contributed both to the economic aspect, by facilitating remote working and e-commerce, and to the medical and health aspects: teleconsultation, support for medical research, support for pharmacovigilance and identification of contact cases (TousAntiCovid).

One year on from the start of the crisis, what can we learn from Digital's contribution to pandemic management? What has it facilitated, developed or made more reliable? Are there areas where digital technology has been a hindrance? What successes and failures can be directly attributed to digital technology? If we had to do it all over again, what would we improve, and what would your recommendations be?
