[Télécom ParisTalks] The impact of AI on cybersecurity professions
14th conference in the Télécom ParisTalks cycle co-organized by
Télécom ParisTech alumni and Télécom Evolution
As we look at the cradle of the cybersecurity professions, isn't it time to question the expectations and fears that the emblematic term "Artificial Intelligence" generally arouses?
Digital engineers know more than anyone that AI is not going to supplant humans for a very long time to come (apart from singularity enthusiasts), but that it will first give birth to tools that simplify and replace many complex and repetitive technical tasks. It will also enable us to build increasingly powerful, intelligent digital assistants, which may be disruptive in some cases, but will always be at the service of the operator and the human expert. They may even be able to absorb a good part of the need for digital know-how in all professions, even engineering, since the "searchable" digital assistant will be able to answer questions from a wide range of users. digital assistant", which can be interrogated by voice or written question in human language, will be able to do an enormous amount with digitized data.
However, human intentionality, both positive and negative, will always be at work, driving future algorithms and massive databases. And by the same token, can't we already foresee that future cybersecurity specialists will ultimately be the last trade dedicated to truly understanding, controlling and monitoring what's out there?dedicated to understanding, controlling and monitoring what's under the hood of artificial intelligence?
Based on the contributors to Revue TELECOM No. 190 and the contacts made at the round-table conferences held in 2018, the Cybersécurité alumni group aims to take stock of the impact of innovations in artificial intelligence on the Cybersecurity professions.
This field is critically short of talent and resources, at a time when cybercrime is more of a reality than ever, and compromises to user data and accounts are multiplying.
AI is offering itself as a solution for automating tasks that lend themselves to it, and thus responding in part to this challenge. Used by both attackers and defenders, it is effectively beginning to transform the profession.
Professors from the Mines-Télécom Institute, analysts, consultants and managers will be on hand to discuss the subject.
The conference is supported by CLUSIF.
