Synopsis:
Paraphrasing General de Gaulle: "J'allais vers l'Orient compliqué avec des idées simples", we discover the Arabian Gulf, and more particularly the United Arab Emirates. This country arouses many fantasies of different kinds.
From a geo-strategic point of view, the UAE is in the eye of the storm, i.e. in the calm before the storm. The UAE is at war in Yemen. Emirati troops are fighting alongside the Saudis and other petro-monarchies against Iranian-backed rebels. This conflict is very costly, and is delaying the acquisition of new military equipment.
The UAE is of particular interest to Groupe Défense Télécom as the defense industry there seems to be in full development. Have the 3 conditions for this development been met? Certainly the financial capacity, probably the political will, but the human resources in terms of top-level engineers and scientists are less obvious. Time will tell!

At the same time, Patrick MICHON has been involved for many years in teaching at the National Sessions of CHEAR (now IHEDN Armement et Economie de Défense) as a Study Adviser and Lecturer. His lectures focus on the defense industry, analyzing geopolitics, threats to territorial integrity, equipment for the armed forces, and the capacity of local industries to supply equipment.)
