Evenement Mines Finance : Cooperative banks: what makes their model different? What do they offer consumers and society?

JEAN-LOUIS BANCEL, a graduate of HEC(78) and ENA(82), is Chairman of Crédit Coopératif (after serving as Vice-Chairman from 2005 to 2009), Chairman of the International Association of Cooperative Banks, the sectoral organization of the International Cooperative Alliance, Vice-Chairman of the Commission des normes comptables privées and Member of the College of the Autorité des Normes Comptables (ANC).

JEAN-LOUIS BANCEL spent over 10 years in the mutual insurance sector, first as General Secretary of the Groupement des entreprises mutuelles d'assurance (Gema) from 1993, then as CEO of the Fédération Nationale de la Mutualité Française from 1997 to 2004. He is currently Chairman of Mutuelle Centrale des Finances and Coop Fr, Fédération Nationale des entreprises coopératives.

Prior to this, he worked at the Direction des Assurances in the Ministry of the Economy, Finance and the Budget (1983-86), at the COB and with the Secretary of State for Consumer Affairs, as Chief of Staff.
