Conference/debate: "Deployment of fixed broadband access in France and infrastructure sharing".
Telecom ParisTech Alumni's Networks and Services Group is organizing a conference/debate on Thursday, December 3 at 7pm, on the theme of "Rolling out fixed broadband access in France and infrastructure sharing".
Internet access is now essential for businesses, public services and individuals alike. But it's no longer enough simply to be connected to the Internet: broadband now plays an essential role in access to services.
The government has made digital one of its strategic priorities: the entire country, from the biggest cities to rural communities, must be covered by very high-speed broadband (>30Mb/s), with priority given to fiber optics by 2022, thanks to a 20 billion euro investment from the private and public sectors. Such is the ambitious roadmap of the Plan France Très Haut Débit (THD) announced in 2013.
Such a roadmap requires the mobilization of a large number of players: the state, local authorities, telecoms manufacturers, operators, etc., and overcoming constraints of all kinds.
After a general introduction by Lucien Torchin (78), 4 speakers will review the progress of the France THD Plan and detail various aspects of the subject, with particular emphasis on the most complex part, deployment in less densely populated areas:
Romain Bonenfant, Director of the Broadband/Very Broadband Markets at ARCEP, on the regulatory aspects of promoting THD deployment
Richard Toper, CEO of Setics, on the role and actions of local authorities within the framework of the THD Plan
Pierre-Eric Saint-André, CEO of Axione, who will give the point of view of an Operator of Operators
Henri de Chanville (09), founder of LumiTHD, a start-up that aims to optimize and industrialize the reuse of existing networks.
