AI in the service of the environment: the case of land mapping

AI and the environment

Among the pervasive applications of AI, some aim to help alleviate the environmental crisis.

In this webinar we will discuss the potential of AI applied to satellite and aerial mapping.

Thanks to AI, the Institut Géographique National (IGN) is speeding up aerial mapping of France by a factor of 10, while the startup Kayrros, in partnership with the Laboratoire des Sciences du Climat et de l'Environnement (LSCE), is developing real-time detection of methane leaks and measurement of CO2 storage/removal by vegetation, and the startup Versant is analyzing the biological content of fields? We'll be discussing these questions with our guests::

  • Alexandre Leonardi , Head of the Vector and 3D Data Department at IGN, will present some of the concrete applications highlighted in the latest issue of the Anthropocene Atlas.
  • Antoine Rostand, CEO and founder of Kayrros, will show how AI can be used to process massive data from satellites equipped to detect atmospheric methane and carbon dioxide.
  • Martin de Stoppani , CEO and co-founder of Versant, will explain how AI is helping to identify land with high potential for ecological restoration, in order to combat the collapse of biodiversity.
