[THE REPAIRED AND AUGMENTED HUMAN]
The question of the repaired and augmented human has been the stuff of many dreams for several years, while also raising thorny ethical issues. Without venturing into the realm of transhumanism, we propose in this issue to focus on several examples of what can be done for human beings, now and in the years to come, in the fields of health and disability. We leave aside other equally promising fields of application, such as assistance with arduous work (see last article) or thought-controlled machines and computers.
[THE INTERNET OF THE FUTURE]
The Internet concepts took shape in 1973, but benefited from earlier work on the Arpanet and discussions of the International Network Work Group (INWG) which eventually became Working Group 6.1 of the International Federation of Information Processing (IFIP). In simple terms, the Internet is a network of autonomous networks joined by Gateways and employing a collection of protocols sometimes referred to as the TCP/IP Protocol Suite.
