What future for employment in a decarbonizing world?
For several years now, there has been an abundance of expert opinion on the future of jobs in the age of artificial intelligence, and today it's hard to miss the many opinions on LLM!
Yet the title of the world's biggest job transformer could well go to the ecological transition. Beyond the obvious transformation of the energy industry, other sectors of the economy will not be outdone: thermal vehicles will be replaced by electric ones, road freight will be reduced in favor of rail and cyclo-logistics, new construction will be replaced by renovation...
To be successful, the ecological transition will obviously have to address both physical and human resource constraints. The challenge is twofold: to ensure the availability of the necessary skills and to support retraining, particularly in sectors that are likely to contract.
Speakers will include:
Yannick Saleman is a graduate of the Ecole des Ponts, the London School of Economics and Columbia University. Yannick worked for over seven years at the World Bank on economic development projects in India and Africa. He piloted the "employment" chapter of the Shift Project's Plan de Transformation de l'Économie Française, in which he examines the future of the 12 million jobs (i.e. 45% of current jobs) directly concerned by the low-carbon transformation proposed in the Plan.
and Philippe Drobrinski, Director of Research at CNRS and Professor at École Polytechnique, a graduate of École Centrale de Lille and École Polytechnique. Philippe coordinates work on energy transition within the GREC (groupe régional d'expertise sur le changement climatique et la transition écologique) in the Paris region. At X, he teaches courses on climate change and renewable energies at master's and engineering levels, and is responsible for a professional training program on the environment and energy management.
The speakers will also answer any questions you may have.
