Energy Sovereignty and Security of Supply: The Ukraine Invasion Crisis and China's Growing Weight Reveal New Stakes in the Energy Transition
Organised by "Energy"
Energy transition
Our speaker for the evening
Ms Colette Lewiner, Energy Advisor to Cap Gemini's Executive Board
The 25th edition of the World Energy Markets Observatory (WEMO) draws lessons from the energy crisis that followed Russia's invasion of Ukraine. In addition to measures aimed at accelerating the energy transition, individual countries and Europe have recognized the importance of energy supply security.
Carbon-free power generation technologies have advanced, but despite this, greenhouse gas emissions have continued to rise. In this lecture, Colette Lewiner will examine the issues of energy sovereignty and the West's dependence on China, whose weight in the energy transition continues to grow.
Despite the continued development of renewable energies and energy storage, it is likely that the objective of limiting global temperature growth to 1.5 degrees by 2030 will not be achieved. Adaptation measures must therefore be taken quickly.
Consumer behavior and the financing of the energy transition are key success factors.
