Banks and insurance companies face the risks of climate change and biodiversity loss

Organised by "Digital & Environment"

Sustainable finance

This webinar "How do banks and insurance companies assess their customers' risks related to climate change and biodiversity loss?"

is organized by the "Numérique et environnement" group of Telecom Paris Alumni Groupe Numérique in collaboration with the X Environnement association .

Banks are indirectly exposed to climate risks and those linked to the reduction of biodiversity through the customers to whom they grant loans: will they be reimbursed in the event of default? Insurance companies, for their part, are more directly exposed if they guarantee these risks: will they be able to compensate them in the event of damage?

How do risk assessment methods work? Are they precise enough to improve operational decisions? What contribution can digital technology make to the success of these assessments? What role can alliances such as the Net Zero Banking Alliance and the Net Zero Insuring Alliance play? These are just some of the questions we'd like to address with our speakers:

  • Imene Ben Rejeb-Mzah (BNP Paribas)
  • Tanguy de Bienassis (International Energy Agency)
  • Alice Legrix de la Salle (AXA Climate)
  • Jean Boissinot (Banque de France)
