Webinar : African women entrepreneurs in ICT: what social and environmental impact?

On the occasion of International Telecoms Day

CSR and Developing Countries http://www.rse-et-ped.info, the leading independent French-language source of information on CSR in developing countries, is organizing the WEBINAR African Women Entrepreneurs in ICT: for what social and environmental impact? - Tuesday May 17, 2016, from 12pm to 2pm GMT+2.

Initiated by Joelle Brohier-Meuter, president of RSE et PED, Ilhem Hassania Kerdoudi, founder of Exceede and graduate of télécom ParisTech promo 2000 and Professor Awatif Hayar founder of e-medina.

Live from Casablanca, this conference will take place alongside Smart City Expo Casablanca 2016 as part of the Telecommunications Day organized by the Fondation Maroc Numérique and the Ecole Supérieure de Technologie de Casablanca of Hassan II University.

Over 75% of young people in Botswana, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa and Uganda believe that entrepreneurship is a good career choice. 30% of the world's businesses are owned by women, despite the fact that women account for 50% of the population. In sub-Saharan Africa, women set up businesses in sectors that create little value and few jobs: agriculture, commerce, tourism, but are under-represented in information and communication businesses.

And yet, ICTs represent a huge potential for added value and societal and environmental innovation, which will see promising start-ups flourish.

How can we promote the success of African women entrepreneurs in the vital ICT sector? And how can we promote a strong social and environmental impact? That's what this webinar will explore, with social entrepreneurship professional Adèle Galey from Ticket for Change, 5 female ICT entrepreneurs and the initiator of Orange Senegal's M-Women Initiative for women in ICT in Africa.

Participation is free of charge, but registration is required athttp://www.rse-et-ped.info/?p=33467
The conference is open to all, so please feel free to share the invitation.
