[Télécom ParisTalks] 5G: towards smarter networks

18th conference in the Télécom ParisTalks cycle co-organized by
Télécom Paris alumni
and Télécom Evolution

Virtualization and cloud computing techniques, network slicing, decentralization of certain processing operations to the network edge (Multi Access Edge Computing)... In addition to increasing bandwidth and capacity, 5G is accompanied by a host of innovations designed to make networks more intelligent.

The aim of this new Télécom ParisTalks conference devoted to 5G will be to gain a better understanding of the challenges and opportunities of these developments towards more intelligent networks, as well as their impact, particularly in terms of network security:

- What opportunities are there for new services, particularly in B2B use, through network slicing, real-time applications...?

- What is the panorama of these technologies in the different phases of 5G?

- What transformations will operators need to make, particularly in terms of architecture and core networks?

- How far along are we in testing these new architectures and "demonstrators" of the expected new services?

- What are the security challenges and risks, both for core networks and for the introduction of advanced processing at the network edge? What are the levers for controlling them?

- And, ultimately, how can these risks and opportunities be integrated into the telecom strategy of both operators and companies?

To explore these questions in greater depth, Télécom Paris alumni and Télécom Evolution have called on recognized experts from the world of operators, manufacturers, IT services companies, major corporate customers and security:

  • Jean-Benoît Besset (1994), Director, Technical and IT Strategy, Orange France
  • Viktor Arvidsson (1996), Director of Government Relations, Innovation and Strategy, Ericsson France
  • Christophe Le Roux, Intelligent Sales Lead EMEA, Microsoft
  • Philippe Vannier, Special Advisor to the Chairman of Atos for Science, Technology and Cybersecurity
  • Thierry Borgel, IS and Digital Director, Icade and CIGREF representative
  • Vincent Strubel (2005), Deputy Director Expertise, Agence Nationale de la Sécurité des Systèmes d'Information (ANSSI)

The first part will be devoted to presentations by the speakers, followed by a round-table discussion and Q&A session with the audience.

For the round-table discussion, the speakers will be joined by :

  • Jean-Luc Beylat, President, Nokia Bell Labs France
  • Guillaume de Lavallade, Managing Director, HubOne

The conference will be followed by a cocktail reception, to enable participants to extend the discussions.

Access to the conference is free and open to all. Please feel free to pass on the invitation.

Registration (online) is imperative for access to the conference room. ID will be required at the entrance to comply with the vigipirate plan.
