Sciences ParisTech for women<br />Catherine Marry's conference on women engineers

Sciences ParisTech au féminin
is pleased to invite you to a conference on January 28, 2014 by

Catherine Marry
on women engineers

Come and chat with Catherine Marry, an informed witness to the evolution of women in the professional world!

Catherine Marry is a sociologist, director of research at CNRS, Centre Maurice Halbwachs, a joint unit associated with EHESS and ENS. Since the mid-1980s, the gender dimension has played a central role in her work, from a sociohistorical and intergenerational transmission/breakdown perspective. The France-Germany comparison is a common thread running through her various projects. In particular, she has studied the unfinished dynamic of feminization of the higher professions, which is reflected in the relative trivialization of their presence in these professions, but also in their still limited access to the upper echelons, whether as engineers, life science researchers or senior civil servants.

Since 1995, she has been involved in the creation and scientific leadership of the MAGE (Marché du travail et Genre) network, and has organized a number of symposia within this framework.

Her fascinating book " Les femmes ingénieurs, une révolution respectueuse " ( Women engineers, a respectful revolution ) is a reference for women engineers who wonder about their history and their specificities, and thus about their future. In it, she looks at all our facets: our social origins, our motivations, our family lives and, of course, our careers.

Catherine Marry has contributed an article on "couples and careers" to the book published to mark the 40th anniversary of women's entry to the X engineering school.
