Le Groupe Audiovisuel - NEW DATE
November 2011, the end of analogue TV broadcasting: the challenges and stakes

With the law of March 5, 2007 ("Modernisation audiovisuelle et Télévision du Futur"), France decided to cease all terrestrial television broadcasting in analog mode (the "SECAM" system) by November 30, 2011 at the latest. By this date, the entire broadcasting network will be digital, and all TV viewers will have to have migrated to digital TV reception. What are the technical challenges of this changeover ("digital dividend" and new uses)? What are the material and human challenges (digital coverage of the country, motivation and equipment of viewers)? How can we implement the Schéma National d'Extinction de l'Analogique, which the government is due to publish this summer?Groupe Audiovisuel invites you to come and debate this issue with three protagonists: - Philippe Levrier, President of G.I.P. France Télé Numérique, in charge of organizing and managing the transition to "all-digital" television for the French; - François Rancy, Managing Director of the Agence Nationale des Fréquences, which plans and controls radio resources and leads international negotiations; - Gilles Brégant, Technical Director of the Conseil Supérieur de l'Audiovisuel, in charge of planning the roll-out of the digital transmitter network and the switch-off of analog transmitters. The conference will be followed by a cocktail reception.
