Regulation of the digital economy: evening debate with Benoit Coeuré

Competition Authority

Benoît Coeuré has been Chairman of the French Competition Authority since January 2022.

Between 2020 and 2021, Benoît Coeuré was Head of the BIS Innovation Cluster and a member of its Executive Committee. Previously, he was a member of the ECB Executive Board from 2012 to 2019 and chaired the BIS Payments and Market Infrastructure Committee from 2013 to 2020.

Before joining the ECB, he held various positions at the French Treasury and the French Debt Management Office. In particular, he was Deputy Director General and Chief Economist of the French Treasury from 2009 to 2011.

Benoit Cœuré is a graduate of the École Polytechnique in Paris. He holds a postgraduate diploma in statistics and economic policy from the École nationale de la statistique et de l'administration économique (ENSAE), and a degree in Japanese.

He is the author of several articles and books on economic policy, the international monetary system and the economics of European integration.
