Big Data Alliance international conference series<br />BIG DATA ECONOMICS,TOWARDS DATA MARKETPLACES

As part of the Big Data Alliance's international lecture series, Télécom ParisTech welcomes Renaud Di Francesco, PhD, Director of Sony Europe's Technology Standards Office and a Télécom ParisTech graduate. Renaud Di Francesco looks at the economics of Big Data, beyond a simple "project-by-project" cost analysis. The fuel of any Big Data system is data. Yet in most current usage, with the exception of Open Data, this data is obtained for a single use, and used by a single organization, due to the glaring absence of an open and transparent market where such data could be bought and sold. Renaud Di Francesco then analyzes the objects, agents and mechanisms at work to source data in the context of Big Data, and gives an economic rather than a technological point of view. He questions the nature of data which, as a digital (and not material) asset, can be duplicated at no cost, and is not destroyed or consumed in the course of its use...Online registration
